Same starting line. Different feedback loop.

Both start with zero users and zero revenue. Graytower turns each new signal into evidence you can act on; without that context, every next move is harder to explain.

  1. Starting from zeroNo users. No revenue.
  2. Launch spikeTraffic jumps. The cause is still unclear.
  3. First proofRevenue starts linking back to acquisition.
  4. Another betA change creates a lift, but the cause stays uncertain.
  5. A focused next moveA weak path becomes something specific to test.
  6. Learning compoundsResults inform the next experiment.
  7. PlateauThe numbers are visible. The next move isn’t.

Illustrative product-learning trajectory. The lines show how evidence informs decisions, not a forecast of revenue or users.

The two illustrative paths overlap through launch and its correction. Both have setbacks and periods of improvement. With Graytower, evidence makes the next experiment easier to choose and evaluate. Without that context, gains are harder to explain and repeat. The chart has 38 timeline points and 5 stages.

If Graytower can’t prove it, it says so

Stripe revenue stays whole. Graytower shows what it can support with evidence, and leaves the rest unattributed instead of guessing.

Answers before you start

A few practical details before you get started. The docs have the longer answers.

Do I need Stripe to use Graytower?
No. Traffic analytics, goals, Explore, and Opportunities work independently. Connecting Stripe adds revenue attribution.
Is Graytower useful before I have customers?
Yes. Your Opportunity Profile can generate Suggested Opportunities before you have meaningful traffic or revenue data. Observed opportunities become available as data arrives.
What happens when a payment can't be attributed?
It still counts toward total revenue, but appears as unattributed. Graytower never guesses a source. See why.
What counts as an event?
Accepted pageviews and custom events count. Stripe payment sync and Graytower-generated calculations do not. See event limits.
Does it work across subdomains?
Yes. Install the snippet on each subdomain under your registered root to share a first-party visitor ID. Different root domains need separate registration. Read the guide.
Does it use cookies?
Yes. The tracker sets a first-party anonymous visitor cookie when it loads. If consent is required, load it only after consent. Read about identity.
How long is data retained?
Detailed activity is kept for 3 months on Free, 12 on Starter, and 24 on Growth. Daily summaries can last longer. See retention details.
Can I cancel or downgrade?
Yes. Downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of your paid period. Manage plans in Billing and cancel through its Stripe portal link. See billing details.
