Unattributed revenue
Find out why a valid Stripe payment has no acquisition source and how to improve coverage.
A payment can be imported from Stripe and included in total revenue even when Graytower cannot assign it to a source. That is unattributed revenue.
Common reasons
- No visitor ID, user identity, or checkout-started Stripe ID links the payment to a tracked visitor.
- The supplied visitor ID does not match a visitor for this Website.
- A visitor match exists, but Graytower has no recorded session to supply a source.
- The browser visit was blocked, consent was not given, or tracking was installed after the purchase.
Graytower does not claim that this customer never visited. It only reports that the available evidence does not support a source assignment.
Improve coverage
Add graytower_visitor_id to Stripe metadata at checkout and identify signed-in users. For flows where metadata cannot be set, consider the supported checkout_started link. Then compare totals by currency: unattributed amounts remain in revenue while you improve future matching.
